On Tuesday, October 17th in City Council the Mayor of Waterville, Nick Isgro, proclaimed October 24th, 2017 as World Polio Day in Waterville and presented Club representatives with the official proclamation from the City.
While a small thing perhaps in the larger global picture of eradicating Polio, we hope this proclamation mobilizes our Waterville Rotary Club to action -- because our efforts and money raised makes a BIG difference when added to the money being raised all over the world. In fact, attendees at the City Council meeting expressed surprise at how much Rotary International has raised to combat Polio worldwide and were very appreciative of our efforts. BE PROUD Rotarians - but never be complacent. If you're not coordinating a Purple Pinkie Cookie Basket at work, we hope you'll seek out and buy a cookie from a fellow Rotarian who does have a basket - and help us spread the word. Our goal is ambitious - $500 through cookie sales and donations - but you know we can do it if we work together! Thank you for your service above self Rotarians!
